Which is the point I’m driving at. The idea of who Teddy Roosevelt was, as a person, shouldn’t be so surprising, nor difficult to grasp. He was a unique individual, and a critical thinker, and therefore had a complex identity and belief structure which mirrored the truth he’d gleaned from his own robust life experiences. As we should expect a well-actualized human to have.

Yes. The moment one expresses a political opinion these days, it seems, one finds oneself defending not the stated political opinions, but all the OTHER political opinions that somehow have been stereotypically associated with the stated opinion.

To me, this is no more than an admission on the part of the other that they are unable to engage in critical thinking.
