When I wrote that, I was thinking of people who feel hate and commit violence (fear is another issue) and want to blame others for making their hate and violence “necessary” (in their minds).

This issue is at work on both sides of all political issues, some more than others. Even an entirely righteous act can cause blowback (which could be hatred and violence) from the other “side”.
