Well, when it comes to hiring, the wrong metric is constantly being used.
It doesn’t matter what the racial/gender breakdown in the overall society is, it’s what the racial/gender breakdown in the degree field I want to hire is.
IT /Comp Sci grads are like 75% male. Today. In the past, much more male oriented. So, if my team is 80–85% male, that’s not evidence of mysogeny; it’s a fair balance considering the hiring pool I’m working with.
Same reasoning goes for each of the racial groups. They are underrepresented in IT, except for Asians, who are overrepresented. So, my hiring pool is……
