Well, there you go.

There are no credible sources on the ground in Aleppo. The Russians follow a scorched-earth policy using air power in urban warfare, where they destroy the infrastructure and make the area uninhabitable for the civilians, who then want to leave. Unless the adversary is following the Geneva Convention (not happening in Syria) the adversary then PREVENTS them from leaving, because once the human shields are gone…..they’re dead. Eventually, pressure builds and the civilians get to leave, which is the endgame that we’re at now.

Palmyra’s a side show. It goes back and forth because it’s not a priority for the Syrian government. If ISIS wants to pretend they have something because they have it for the next few minutes, good for them. It won’t last long.

After Aleppo is wiped up, the Syrian regulars can turn there attention to other hotbeds and ISIS. Hopefully, the west won’t gunk up the works too much by feeding more weapons to the “moderate Syrian rebels” (I still laugh every time I hear that term. Moderates in Syria. What a hoot.)
