Well, there will be no shortage of excuses, as long as the current status quo amongst the GOP is "say no to everything."

When a conservative views a governmental problem, they think "OK, how can I solve this problem with the lightest touch, most free market method possible?"

The current GOP thinking is "there are no problems."

And that's the problem. Obviously the Democrats have been overly influenced by batshit crazy leftism which has no place in the US, and that's a larger threat than the GOP's belief that there are no problems; but if the best the conservatives can hope for is stasis, that's preferable to social and economic policy which is poorly advised.
