Well, I agree that MOST manufacturing isn’t coming back. And obviously automation is a major culprit in all this. There are, however, egregious things that can be addressed.
There are few more things that terrify me more than “Universal Basic Income” if it were to be implemented like welfare. The possibility of a society where only the 20% of individuals who have the intellectual chops t get a STEM or MBA degree basically earn ALL the income, and 80% are on the dole, does not sound like a formula for a stable society.
The devil is in the details on that one. I’d prefer an alternative approach.
