If “they” really hate capitalism, wait until they see what happens when its gone. :-)
The economy is run by SOMEBODY. In authoritarian economics (fascism, communism, socialism regardless of how you define it) it’s the government that runs the economy.
And yes, at times, the adjunct to capitalism called “corporatism” makes it look like it’s the corporations who “run” the economy.
However, in capitalism, it’s market forces which run the economy. There is no “man behind the curtain” pulling the levers. It’s supply and demand, competition, and the demands of shareholders who “run” things. IOW, it’s the quest for profit which determines direction.
I trust the quest for profit to deliver benefits up and down the income scale more than I trust elected officials and bureaucrats. Advocates of authoritarian economics like Bernie Sanders always assume that the elected officials will manage the economy altruistically. History shows that this is not at all true.
