Well, as I’ve stated before, I don’t necessarily see the slippery slope from here to book burning. Possible, but not my primary concern, unless burning actually starts happening.
I think the anti-memorial people do have a point when they call out the fact that the South commemorated these men as heroes, which is different from commemorating them as historical figures alone. But, not disagreeing with your point…. my interest in finding a compromise position that involves moving them to historical parks (perhaps the actual battlefields which are also commemorated) so that the entire story can be told (and thus perhaps get some closure on that we evidently today still do not have).
