The Coronavirus Crisis Will Force Us to Reconsider Universal Health Care

We keep considering it.

We keep getting derailed by dug in ideological positions on how the system will be structured. At this point it would be a relatively easy lift to fully fund the ACA and make it universal; but the ideologues will demand a single payer system, and then it will all fall apart again.
