Assigning Lee the status of historically important American is a key part of people looking to justify preserving Confederate monuments throughout the country.
Uh….no. Lee is definitely a historically important American. His CAUSE, however, was an infernal one and thus, he doesn’t merit personal RESPECT as a historically important figure.
Historically important figures do not have to be people we like, after all.
That really only gives the current option of a bit of stolen valor, swiping from the American Founding Fathers and giving to the Confederate Failed Traitors.
How does it swipe from the Founding Fathers? I don’t see how you connect those dots. Please show your work.
I’m sure whoever was sitting on the throne would have been really anxious to put up with statues commemorating acts of treason. Right?
Well, they did indeed put up a statue to him, as Svetlana Voreskova mentioned while she was ripping you a new one.
