Uh….most of these specialties are self-employed, are they not? Doesn’t this simply mean that women doctors are charging people less than men?
But, at any rate, that’s one area. Hanna Rosen writing in that known conservative publication Slate (kidding) lays out the arguments that the pay gap is bunk:
You Know That "Women Make 77 Cents to Every Man's Dollar" Line? It's Not True.
How many times have you heard that " women are paid 77 cents on the dollar for doing the same work as men"? Barack…
Bottom line, Rosen explains the more accurate case: where if a man and a woman, doing the same job, working the same hours, with the same educational level and keeping the same experience level……will earn, for all practical purposes, the same amount of money at all points during their careers.
We women make different life choices, as both Svetlana Voreskova and Rosen point out. Those choices lead to a gap in hours worked and over time, experience compared to men. If we refuse to accept that, and demand the same wage even though our choices have led to a differential in the value to bring to our employers…….then we’re not advocating for equality, we’re advocating for special treatment.
IOW, we’re “damseling.”
