Tremendously appreciate the work you’ve put in on this.
I have been labeled a “skeptic” by more people than I can count because of precisely the issues you raise above. Don’t tell me about “97%”; I am sure 97% of biologists believed in spontaneous generation before experimentation to the contrary. Correlation is not causation, nor does it IMPLY causation to any serious extent without an analysis of other variables. Etc. Etc.
I personally believe that there aren’t that many true skeptics; what they are is Fischer, conservative/libertarian individuals whose true objection is the idea that the government would force solutions onto the free market; objecting to the veracity of climate science is just an attempt to head off the “government interventionists” off at the pass. Hence rejection of Kyoto or Paris or whichever set of accords is the latest and best attempt to address the issue.
If your work on this could be better socialized into the skeptic community……along with solutioning that does NOT grate on the libertarians……we might make better progress on this issue globally. Trying to force top-down government solutions onto individuals who detest them is not a particularly good strategy.
