Some who claim the label of Christianity, but weren’t practicing the beliefs of Christianity at all, according to the Biblical Scriptures, did things for which “Christianity” is blamed. Notable examples are the Roman Catholic church and the Westboro Baptist church.
This is just the “No True Scotsman” fallacy. Further, due to size, nobody has a better claim to being the “Real Christians” than the RC’s.
Islam has a fourteen hundred year history of violence wherever they go; to claim otherwise is simply NOT true.
Pretty sure nobody claimed otherwise. Point is that all religions in history emerge from a medieval stage where they;re running about hacking people up to a more civilized version. Islam is in the process of that emergence now, hopefully.
Since our Constitution was largely based on the Judeo-Christian legal concepts, it’s not incompatible with them and they aren’t incompatible with it. The first laws in this nation established were things like the Mayflower Compact, which served as foundations for the Constitution in time.
Islam has the same base roots. The Torah and the Injeel (Gospels) are also considered to be God-inspired writings. One Imam I heard once preached a sermon on how the US Bill of Rights is about as Islamic a document as has ever been written,
And if you belong to no one, why do you wear that black hood?
Because according to my religion, it pleases my Creator if I do so.
And, it’s not usually black. I do have a sense of style. :-)
