I have read that the counter tariffs imposed by china are targeting areas where trumps support is high

This is correct. But keep in mind that the Chinese tariffs are estimated to affect 3B in trade. The total value of trade with China last year was 576B. I know you can divide 576 into 3 and calculate what an infinitesimally small % of total trade their response amounts to. The Chinese response is limp-wristed; all that’s happening here is that the chairs at the bargaining table are being arranged.

I dont think anyone ever intended to put coal out in anything under a decade or so… it wouldn’t even be physically possible to do so. So we agree on that much.

I think it’s more like a generation (25 years) but let’s not quibble about time horizons. Directionally, we agree.

lol.. yeah this is kind of true.. yet still despite all of the really stupid tariffs that both the left and right have imposed and the failures that resulted… still to Trump this seemed like a good idea.

Keep in mind that these tariffs are the long-standing view of Peter Navarro, and Dr. Navarro is no dummy, even though he’s persona non gratis amongst the corporatists.

Stay tuned. The tariff matter is in the 2nd inning. Lots more shoes to fall.
