There’s a broader picture here.

We have many business and social acquaintances who are nationals of or immigrants from Eastern Europe; plus, I have extensive and long term business travel in that region of my own over the years.

It is not uncommon for these people to point out that Mr. Obama, Mr. Sanders, Ms. Warren, and other figures of the American Left commonly use rhetoric that reminds them of their former Communist leaders.

What I gather from this, and from the above article, is that any politician with a “lean” is, at times, going to use similar rhetorical tooling to politicians & rulers from the far extremes of that “side”. IOW, at times, politicians from the right are going to say something that is reminiscent of Hitler, and politicians from the left are gong to say something that is reminiscent of Lenin, Stalin, or Mao.

There used to be an axiom (I don’t know if it’s valid anymore, now that we live in the Land of Perpetual Outrage) that “actions speak louder than words”. Trump, for example, speaks harshly of corporations he disapproves of and threatens them (a Hitler behavior) and then deregulates them (definitively NOT a Hitler behavior).

My view is that we all ought to tone down the “FASCIST!” and “COMMUNIST”! accusations that are currently being fired at Mr. Trump and Mr. Sanders, take a breath, and realize that This Too Will Pass.

America is not going to cease to exist if Mr. Trump finishes his term, and will not cease to exist if Mr. Sanders is elected.
