"The Texas law literally outlaws the teaching of unconscious bias which is something that everyone has,

Yes, everyone probably has unconsious bias to some extent (one assumes; it’s hard to test for and assemble data concerning) , but no, the bill does not literally outlaw such teaching.

Reading the bill as passed as we speak. What it does is outlaw the teaching that bias is inherently tied to race. So, the teacher cannot teach that because a student is white, they are unconsciously biased against those with black skin. It does not prevent teaching that because of upbringing or society, a white student may harbor unconscious bias; just the notion that the bias it tied to skin color is verboten.

Which is good, because teaching that would be utter bullshit, scientifically.

"the only way for me to combat them, is to critically examine them."

I don't disagree with that. But we're talking grade school here. If I try to teach a kid in K-5 about his or her unconscious bias, they're going to look at me and ask if they can have another cookie. If I try to teach a high school boy about unconscious bias, his mind is going to wander off on how he can get into the panties of the cute girl in the back of the class.

This is a VERY nuanced topic, involves sociology and psychology (neither of which are in the K-12 standard curriculum, for good reason) and simply doesn't fit in a K-12 curriculum. There are other ways to address the issue of racism.

It is impossible to accurately teach the history of Texas’ founding without making white people feel bad,

Nonsense. Even if the white person is one of the minority of whites who can trace an ancestor back prior to the huge immigrations of the mid 1800's, what their great great great great grandfather might have done or approved of is irrelevant to them; generational guilt went out with the Law of Moses.
