This conversation reminds me of a couple of Utopian fantasies that didn’t turn out so well such as Star Trek’s ‘The Cloud Minders’ or Ayn Rand’s ‘Atlas Shrugged’.

The Star Trek universe and Atlas Shrugged have something in common.

They both have an enabling technology (In ST, it’s the Replicator, in AS, it’s Galt’s invention, which is (IIRC) essentially a perpetual motion machine) which breaks the laws of physics.

(As an aside, I did have some utopian millenial tell me once that the ST economy was just a few years off because we had invented the Replicator. I asked him how come I hadn’t heard of it. Turns out he thought a 3D Copier was a Replicator.)

Free markets, free minds. Question all narratives. If you think one political party is right and the other party is evil, the problem with our politics is you.
