The one thing that distinguishes Trump from other Presidents in my lifetime (Carter was my first adult-age president) and, one would assume, from the other GOP competitors has been his laser-focus (and sometimes surprising) on his campaign promises. It’s clear that he uses his promises as a to-do list, while no other President I can recall ever took that tact.

Now, is that good or bad? Well, probably a bit of both; one assumes that most Presidents abandon some or all of their promises when “wiser heads” start advising them after taking office, that some of those promises might not be ,.,… advisable in the big picture. Moving the embassy to Jerusalem comes to mind; all Presidents seem to promise it; none do it. Or, cutting the UN budget; again, something that gets promised a lot on the GOP side…..never seems to actually happen.

At any rate, it’s interesting.
