That’s sort of tangential to my point. Everyone wants a transparent process.
My point is that if Trump is impeached for anything *other* than a (a) serious crime that (b) the evidence for which is clear and damning, and (c ) is material in the context of his Presidency, then (d) his base won’t flip, and (e) there is a risk that the country is left ungovernable by either party for the foreseeable future.
Reasoned opponents of Trump realize that an impeachment process which is based on a charge questionable as to its severity or conclusiveness could result in a nation that is worse off than if it just let Trump finish out his term.
However, not all opponents of Trump are reasonable people.
