That’s called “being facetious.” I would have thought you would have figured that out without being told. :-)
The POINT is (rather amazed I have to spell this out for you) is that the scientific community has lost the trust of a large portion of the American public on this issue.
Now, we can debate until we’re blue in the face WHY that is. Was it because of the “deniers” attacking point after point until fiction was taken as fact? Was it because certain predictions that should never have been made by politicians associated with climate change (re: Gore, Kilamanjaro) haven’t come true? Was it because of the East Anglia email threads discussing Dr. Mann’s statistical “trick”? Was it because the “solutions” proposed by the scientific community (oddly!) all seemed to line up with the governance priorities of one political ideology rather than the other?
Don’t know. What I do know is that the parts of the public labeled as “deniers” aren’t anti-science; however, this entire dustup has left them with a rather large of distrust of scientTISTS, and certainly distrust for the politicians who seem to wish to use science as a justification for increasingly authoritarian control over the economy and public.
Hence: “Go Slow”.
Hope that helps.
