That’s an angry comparison.

Fair enough. To be sure, socialists make me angry. Because as an economic philosophy, what they’re peddling is fairness (an easy sell, of course; it’s easy to get people to blame or hate the rich man) but not telling the rubes that the aggregate standard of living in the economy will decline as a consequence.

Sort of a nasty bait-and-switch, if you think about it.

But, logically, the intent of the perpetrator is not all that germane to the action, in a legal sense. “But your honor, I didn’t mean to kill him” might get you off of murder and on to manslaughter, but you’re still going to jail. It doesn’t let you walk out the courthouse door.
