And more significantly, it does it grant a license to rewrite history, as Ms. Gabbard attempts to do.
Thank you for sharing your opinion. Rest assured I will give it all the consideration it deserves.
I am the government (well, a cog in the government machine), so yes, of course I have a bias. We all have biases, it is inescapable. The trick is to be aware of your biases and strive to be as objective as possible.
I agree with that completely.
Now, as for you, why do you hide behind a nom de guerre?
Because it’s generally a wise thing to do on the internet these days; the world is replete with crazies who will track you down if they can and have an axe to grind. But if you must have full disclosure, I travel the internet as Khadijah bint Muhammad; Khadijah is my actual first name, and Muhammad is indeed my father’s name. I assume you know what the “bint” means, and how it is therefore my “traditional” actual name, had I been born in a traditional Arab country. However, I was not, and my mother’s side roots in the US track back to the 1880’s. My actual last name I keep to myself.
It’s difficult to give any respect or credibility to someone who hides in that manner.
That is entirely your problem to wrestle with. My self image does not require respect or credibility from you, or anyone else.
Or shut up.
Nor do I require your approval to speak. You may, of course, choose not to listen.
