Sure. 1st, see above to my comment on property taxes. In many states, property taxes not only kick the individuals out of their homes, they kick the individuals out of the STATE.
In Texas (still griping here) they have a system where a senior can opt out of paying property taxes; however the taxes accrue and compound at a 6% rate; the state comes back for those taxes when you sell the property.
So, you get to turn over your house for the privilege of living in Texas. (Which is a great place to live, but not for seniors on a budget,)
