That’s a bit dramatic. I am just posting text on Medium.
Sorry, I was using a “royal you”. I was referring to everyone who is supporting this “resist everything” behavior.
I use my own estimation and judgement. The fact that something appears in a book means no more or less to me than ideas from a friend I bump into in the supermarket. I suggest you adopt the same impartiality.
Nobody can tell you what Bush was like in a meeting other than people in the meeting. You’re cutting off an important part of evidence gathering, in my view. Your “impartiality” sounds a bit too much like “intended ignorance.”
This and other parts of your post sound like you are caught up in left-vs-right thinking.
Never. Political views exist in a three dimensional milieu. What I am writing about is point-counterpoint which works both ways. If the US has a dysfunctional government where no major decisions are being taken because the leadership is at war with itself, it is madness to not suggest that other global actors will not take advantage.
The dangers we face as a nuclear-armed species on this planet are real, whether or not they are voiced by any particular group. Nuclear war will likely only happen once. As Einstein noted, World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.
Granted. The point is that war is always preceded by political matters. War, after all, is just politics by a different means.
Goodness. You believe what politicians say? In that case you should have voted for Hillary. I obviously do not mean that. They are ALL liars. Please waken up. Politics is just a game show won by the greatest con artist.
I believe what people say, if reasonable prima facie, until I am proven wrong. As a life philosophy, it’s served me well over the years, even in political calculation. I am just not as cynical as you, it seems.
I don’t know why you are bothered about these foreign nations given that the USA has close on 1,000 overseas military bases — more than ten times as many as every other nation on the planet combined. It is pathetic to hear such fears coming from the USA.
“Things will be OK because they have always been OK” reasoning is a logical fallacy.
I do not mean to insult, but it sounds like you have fallen for the warmongering propaganda of an empire that prosecutes war for profit. The real problem for the USA is having a corporate oligarch and his henchmen in charge of a legal system that he only selectively respects — a legal system that entitles him to kill anyone on the planet with no questions asked. 1930’s Germany had a lot of external threats, but its biggest threat was itself.
One of is falling for something. From your response, you sound like a person who demonizes the business sector, and has prejudged an entire group of people before they have even walked into the door of their new jobs. I find that POV irrational.
