The fact that Trump is involved makes it even shakier as his sole purpose in life is stroking Putin.

So far, I have seen no evidence of “Putin-Stroking:; in fact, most decisions Mr. Trump has made that have involved Russia have not been to Russia’s benefit. So, what actions of Mr. Trump can you point to that you consider “Putin-Stroking”?

From the US perspective Trump is desperate to deflect attention from the Russian shit storm of his own making.

I don’t see any signs of desperation on Mr. Trump’s part; he obviously considers it all bullshit, and so far, what’s been offered appears to be just that: bullshit.

This ceasefire was a previous frantic attempt to make pandering to Putin into something of geopolitical and humanitarian consequence.

You seem to be putting aside the fact that it really HAS geopolitical and humanitarian consequence. And from the perspective of somebody who has relatives in Syria who have been pinned down in the home town for going on four years now, I can comfortably tell you to take that sentence of yours and put it where the sun don’t shine. There are no negatives to the people of Syria in having the US and Russians on the same page.

While on the surface this could be good for many Syrian refugees, who is going to enforce this thing.

Time will tell. It is not unusual for geopolitical powers to cut a deal and work the details on the ground as they go. But yes, it helps all the Syrian people, who you amazingly don’t seem to give a shit about, just as long as you can find something to criticize Trump over.

Underlying this is the fact that Assad is more reliant on Iran than Russia. And the problem is that Assad may use this to bring his forces back to Damascus to attack the “good” rebel’s there rather than to move harder against ISIS. The result will be more civilian deaths and more refugees not less.

There are no “good” rebels; this is the neocon myth of McCain and Graham and Clinton that they’ve been peddling for years now, and which you’ve bought off on lock, stock, and barrel. I have no idea why this is so hard for the West to understand, but let me put it in emphasis:

In the Middle East, everything is about religion. Especially in Syria. Not politics.

ISIS wants Assad gone because he’s not Sunni and not religious, and he keeps them form massacring the Christians and the Shia. The “good rebels” want Assad gone because he imprisons them and kills them, but in the end, they want to get rid of the Christians and Shia too. It’s a distinction without a difference.

The simple fact is that the Russian support and funding of Trump (however it relates to the online voter manipulation last fall) is so big and messy that it can’t be contained.

If you have proof of Russians funding Trump, please post it here:
