Probably because your OP took a shot at getting rid of the SALT deduction, which is another thing that shouldn’t be partisan, but has turned into a partisan issue. If I misread you, I retract my comment.

You call differences in states net funding from federal taxes “distortions” clearly making a judgement that any net funding to/from states is wrong.

Incorrect. I call them distortions because they affect the local economies of different states in different ways, such as the previously made example where a business moves from a high tax state to a low tax state, which is a form of rent-seeking. There is no value to the national economy from doing this, and many times the benefit to the local economy is questionable, depending on the scope of the abatements.

Sadly, most just shrink back to the extremist talking points of their “tribe”.

I agree. Don’t assume that’s what I was doing. That’s a misread.
