Prior to the invention of a solution in search of a problem (bathroom bills) us transgender people used the restrooms of our choice without issue and without political protest from any side since perhaps the creation of the public restroom.
This is part of my thought all along.
So, who kicked up this issue in the first place? From my own experiences with TG people over my entire life (I’m 62), they want to transition and from then on be identified solely as their new sex, not exist as some “third alternative”.
I can see that there needs to be accommodation in those rare instances where it’s a school age child transitioning. Children are cruel. But adults post transition, in my experience, prefer not to be identifiable in public as TG.
So, when there wasn’t a problem before and there isn’t now, why do I have to fear for my life on a daily basis and be degraded because some people fear an invented problem?
Well, because SOMEBODY decided to make it a political issue, and on cue, the social conservatives reacted as one would expect they would, eh? They are, after all, pretty predictable.
Who’s the SOMEBODY? I have my suspicions, but I’d like to hear yours.
