“Organically? What do you mean by this?”
“Organically” means that injustices historically rectify themselves over time without coersion from the government. Obviously, there are some injustices which are so heinous that they require a legislative (or even a military) solution, but the general notion is that they work themselves out over time.
people have to remove these oppressive attitudes by not being prejudiced
That’s an example of organic rectification. The US first used a military (1860’s) solution to the problem of slavery — quite rightly — and then further addressed the problem of social discrimination with legislation (again quite rightly). However, you can only remove an oppressive attitude by organically changing the culture.
But, keep in mind that there had to be organic rectification PRIOR to Lincoln. Emancipation couldn’t have happened in 1820; insufficient support. Forty years pass, and Lincoln rectifies the injustice with a military solution.
by allowing women to work, vote,
Well, women were always allowed to work; it was the oppressive attitude that had to organically change over time. Voting is an entirely different matter, and falls into the “heinous” category.
by not denying a lesbian couple a cake etc…
This was always a made-up problem that had already solved itself organically before the courts got involved. If the biggest social injustice you can think of is that a lesbian couple has to walk 10 steps next door to another baker for their cake, then I’d say that your society is in a pretty good place when it comes to issues of discrimination.
