Oh, sure. If you ever tried to implement the Indian curriculum in the US, there would be several problems:

  • Parents would be screaming because of the workload and the pressure being brought on the kids. There would be no time for sports. :-)
  • Droves of child psychologists would appear out of the woodwork, explaining to use how detrimental this much competition was for such young, developing children.
  • Starting in middle school, vast numbers of math teachers wouldn’t be able to understand the curriculum.

Big trouble. :-)

When we came back, my daughter (she’s 17 now) completed elementary school in the public schools, then a Catholic middle school, and finally a public magnet that runs a college-like atmosphere and accelerated curriculum for high performers (not just gifted).

Worked out fine.
