No, it wasn’t.

Yea, it is.

Unless you’re referring to the arbitrary segregation of any activity by sex rather than by other, more pertinent and logical means.

It's not arbitrary. Separation of competition by sex is the most rational, quantifiable, and consistent means of separating population segments for athletic competition. Even the female skeleton includes substantive and permanent differences that disadvantage women in competitions of speed and strength, and these differences manifest themselves even prior to puberty. To say nothing of the cardiovascular advantages men have.

In sports, a “fair” approach to segregation would be by multiple classes of stratified known ability, as determined by classifying exercises or events appropriate to each sport.

Laughs. You're seriously suggesting that athletes engage in a "qualifying activity" where it's in their rational best interests to underperform? :-) Seriously?

(Well, there's no need to argue about that one. It's simply never going to happen.)

"Lets not forget that sporting events, like so many other experiences and activities were at one time limited to men only."

Nobody cares. Sports lives in the moment. That’s why we enjoy them.
