Criticizing the position of one’s political opponents is not being divisive.

Never said it was. What Obama did with his straw men is mischaracterize the positions first, then criticize the mischaracterization. Rhetorical carpet bombing.

Republicans refusing to work with Democrats on health care, climate change, and infrastructure is.

So is telling your political opponents, when they started to offer solutions “Guys, we won the election.” (Direct Quote).

It was telegraphed loud and clear that the Dems were going to use that veto-proof majority to move health care; GOP suggestions were not solicited. And once those majorities were lost, Obama accomplished almost nothing outside of executive orders. Pure authoritarianism.

And of course, now that Trump is president, it’s the pot calling the kettle black, as the Dems double down on “refusing to work.”
