My preference would be to just write a chapter in this book about the MMT theorists, move on, and let them fade into obscurity.

But….that won’t happen. The “progressives” have aggressive spending demands, in excess of anything envisioned during WW2 as a % of GDP, and the only way for them to approach their goals is to convince everyone that deficits don’t matter. Ever.
