Keith Evans said most of what I was going to say, but I’ll just add this:

If you don’t like the Fed cutting the banks a line of credit, well, you REALLY wouldn’t like it if they didn’t. :-)

The lesson learned from 1929 (and 2008) is “Keep the banks liquid. If you don’t keep them liquid, things REALLY suck, really fast.”
