Just to shine a (small) ray of hope into an otherwise grim assessment, the models do not account for one fairly major variable, that being that immune systems vary from person to person. We see this reflected in charts which drill down on the condition of individuals who have died from the virus. The deaths are disproportionately those who have compromised immune systems, either because of disease (e.g., lupus) or because they are elderly.

My thought, however, is that even within age groups there will be variations is mortality based solely on the ability of the immune systems to resist disease…and that works in the favor of those who take healthy living seriously.
