You keep thinking in terms of the election. The point I am making here is that when a person’s priority is keeping their promise, all other considerations are subsidiary. The path between the promise and the fulfillment of the promise is linear.

You may not AGREE with that sort of reasoning, and I am not sure I would agree with it entirely, myself.

But it is a perfectly legitimate way to approach an ethical dilemma.
