"Instead, we are concerned (exclusively) with simply teaching the full truth about race and racism (just as we do, or at least should do, in every other case), period."
Here's the way I look at this:
1) The way we have traditionally taught history is through the lens of the victor, in this case being White Americans. It is axiomatic that "the victors write the history" and so professional historians are very careful to dig through all sources to get to the truth, and not take the most popular narrative at its word.
2) In my view, CRT also provides a lens by which to view history (and current events) but it's the lens of the victim. We cannot, therefore, be any more assured of its accuracy than we are of the perspective viewed in (1) above.
3) As you say, the full truth is the goal. There is a way to get there, a curriculum based on indisputable, raw fact, agreed upon by professional historians dedicated to truth rather than partisan spin.
It can be done, if we demand it.
