I think it's pretty obvious I'm Muslim.

But the larger point is that the "abortion is evil from conception" belief dates back to the beginnings of Christianity. It was addressed in the Didache and the writings of the Apostolic Fathers, Augustine commented on it in the 4th century, and John Chrysostom sermonized against abortion during the same century. Those are two of the earliest theological giants of Christian history.

What the Southern Baptists do or did not believe is fairly irrelevant --- they didn't appear on the religious scene until the mid 1800's, and they're a rounding error in Christian tradition.

So, as far as I'm concerned, people can believe anything they like about abortion. What fries me is when the "pro" side lies about the reasons why the "anti" side is anti, and since you brought it up, this slanderous nonsense that being anti-abortion is some idea that just got cooked up for political reasons, when in fact it dates back to writings that are contemporary with the Gospels themselves, and thus has always been part of mainstream Christian thought.

It ain't new. :-)
