My argument is that, as a woman, I never have equal rights under pro-life ideology.
I think it better to say that in certain instances, like this one, women and men cannot have equal rights because of biology.
We can’t help it that our anatomy is different, that our physiology is different, and that our plumbing is (slightly) different. This LEADS to certain inequities that there’s really no finessing our way around.
You can pass all the laws you like, and at the end of the day, if we get knocked up, the person ultimately responsible for dealing with the situation is us, not the sperm donor, who in many cases has moved on to other challenges
Same thing with things like the military. It would have been nonsensical, during WW2 or the Korean (and even Vietnam) to draft women into the infantry. Why? Because all that military shit is HEAVY, and reality is that only a small minority of women would have the strength and stamina to lug that shit around through miles of rice paddies.
(Now that we have military equipment with lighter alloys, more women could pass the physical requirements and serve in the infantry. So, times change. But, on average, we’re still not them, physically, and never will be.)
So, I suppose what you’re saying is that we NEED abortion to level the playing field on Matters Reproductive, and that although you recognize that the fetus is human, they’re kind of in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Boy, that kind of sucks, when you think about it.
