No Senate leader in the history of Congress has EVER stood up on national television and declared before the nation, before the Articles of Impeachment even reached The Senate floor, that he would do whatever The President wants and work exclusively with HIM during an Impeachment trial.

I suppose that’s what one would expect to happen if you view the House proceedings as an exercise in partisan politics.

We have an interesting divergence in the country right now. Half the country, like yourself, see Trump as committing impeachable offenses and the GOP as subverting the Constitution.

The other half see Trump as just being his usual offensive self, not doing anything impeachable, and Schiff and Nadler as the ones subverting the Constitution.

The ongoing clash in the social media universe about this topic is caused by the two “sides” refuse to acknowledge that the other has a legitimate point.

If you say anything like that happened during the Clinton Impeachment Trial, I would say very plainly: That. Is. A. Lie.

What is NOT a lie is that the Democrats have refused (and continue to refuse) to adhere to the same evidentiary standards as they demanded in the Clinton event. (It is also not a lie to state that Clinton actually committed a crime, while Trump’s alleged offense is unlikely to be actionable in a court of law due to reasonable doubt, but let’s not digress too much.)

It is ridiculous to even think that all this has come about JUST because we don’t like Donald Trump and believe me, there’s a lot about him to dislike.

Even his supporters acknowledge that, so lets move on.

It’s about a Democratic-Republic who used to be a shining beacon of hope to the world, hurtling into Authoritarian Fascism which is what happens when The Rule of Law is scuttled.

If you really believe this, you should pull out your high school history texts and review what “authoritarian fascism” actually is. The very fact that you typed what you did, and you have not yet been incarcerated, proves you to be wrong.

But more to the point, it is not unusual for politicians to walk along the fence of constitutionality. The sainted Obama himself set some sort of record for executive orders which were then overturned by the Courts; each one of those EO’s was an attempt to subvert constitutional order and separation of powers. And lest you think I am unjustly picking on St. Obama, Bush did it, Clinton did it, Bush I MIGHT have done it, and I think Reagan may have had an event or two with EO’s, if memory serves. Seeing what you can get away with goes with the job.

If there is not an orderly transition of power in 2020 or 2024, depending on election results, THEN I will acknowledge the problem and stand with you to insure that the transition occurs. That WOULD be a harbinger of authoritarian fascism, after all.

But, failing that, protestations that “fascism is on the rise” is simply another way of saying “I dislike the president and his policies.” It’s not even overly hyperbolic, if you look at some of the things that were said about politicians throughout our history.

Protect The Leader, The Myth, and the Message (Make America Great Again) [Shhh…but ONLY for White People], at all costs is one of the cornerstones of Fascism, and that is what they are doing. Damn the Constitution, damn the Rule of Law, The Ends Justify the Means.

Yawns. You’re a lazy commentator. You know full well that MAGA is a response to the globalistic administrations that have characterized our politics since WW2, and the one-sided trade agreements which benefit corporations rather than domestic jobs. Andrew Yang could not have been more correct when he said that Trump election is the direct result of the loss of 4 million jobs from the Rust Belt, although he incorrectly biases the cause to automation rather than bad trade agreements.

And, improvement in the jobs environment benefits everyone. So, as pertains to race, point to the place on the doll where it hurts, dear:

Trump’s supporters love Trump because, “He’s doing exactly what we elected him to do.”

Yes. That means that finally they found somebody who would tell the Social Justice Nut Jobs and leftists to STFU and enjoy their prosperity. None of the little myths that you want to perpetrate, many of which have (unfortunately) been status quo behavior in this nation prior to Trump’s election.

It’s a given you will cry “Foul!” BUT…, It’s a fact that racist hate groups got the message from Trump’s campaign rhetoric down to the, “Loyal White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan”, who put a stylized illustration of Trump on its cover page of their website the morning after he was elected.

Sure. It’s also a fact that the people in the US who like THIS symbol and approve of the pogroms and incarcerations that have been used in the past to promote it……

….are all firmly in the Bernie Sanders camp. However, as a mature adult and veteran of politic-watching, I know that that association does NOT mean that Crazy Uncle Bernie is still a hardened communist as he was in his youth.

A candidate puts out a platform; that platform appeals to certain people and groups of people. Those people climb aboard your campaign bus; sometimes you find people on your bus who you really don’t want there. The candidate can’t do much about it.

So, the fact that a bunch of racists jumped on to Trump’s bus (btw, racists will ALWAYS jump on the bus of the most conservative candidate, because conservatism always prefers incremental social change because it is least disruptive) is weak tea.

The five steps to tyranny are:

“us” and “them” (prejudice and the formation of a dominant group)

obey orders (the tendency to follow orders, especially from those with authority)

do “them” harm (obeying an authority who commands actions against our conscience)

“stand up” or “stand by” (standing by as harm occurs)

exterminate (the elimination of the “other”)

Oh, Sweet Jesus. If you think THAT’S what’s going on, you’re not quite sane.

NOW who’s “woke”?

Depends on how you define “woke”. Half of America defines it as “batshit crazy” and about 20% more just think that the term has jumped the shark.

Data Driven Econophile. Muslim, USA born. Been “woke” 2x: 1st, when I realized the world isn’t fair; 2nd, when I realized the “woke” people are full of shit.
