It’s so-called activists saying “it’s not my job to educate you” when literally that’s all an activist is, someone whose job it is to educate you.
I had precisely this sort of interaction a few weeks ago, with somebody on the left who apparently was entirely forgettable, because I forgot them. The gist of the exchange was that I was wrong, and I was a horrible person for thinking I was right. The more articulate I was, the more horrible and wrong I was.
So, finally I asked the question “well, convince me that you’re right”, and I got back the “it’s not my job……..”.
It was then I realized it was time to make a nice cup of tea, and stop interacting with those who are only partially sane. Apparently this strain of leftism believes its truths to be self-evident, and anyone who asks for them to be explained is so dull that time should not be wasted on them.
Well, regardless of if your debate opponent is dull or not, they still have a vote, just like you do; and if you want your sublime ideas ever to become a reality……..you have to educate those you consider dull.
I am reminded of this (the whole clip is good, but the point I’m making is at the 3:55 mark):
Bill Maher Thinks a Trump Presidency Will Rid Us of PC Culture and Islam Apologists
Even Bill Maher can find one good thing about a Donald Trump presidency (though to be fair, he's found many more things…
The contemporary left is full of people who are keenly interested in fighting injustice, to their credit, but who are not particularly uncomfortable in their lives themselves, and thus are content to be the noble opposition, the righteous dreamers who can look on from the sideline and sigh at how fallen the rest of the world is.
Well, I’ve noted for some time that effective activism is a sport for the young. Once your pony tails turn grey, the politicians don’t see you anymore.
This is all why I find the persistent praise of my work from conservatives funny. I am doing all this in an effort to crush you and your movement.
So what? You’re honest, and from the conservative POV, only one out of a hundred liberal commentators is truly honest (honest = criticizing their own side when it needs it, and only criticizing the other side when they truly deserve it).
