I find it somewhat ironic that after years of criticizing Big Pharma, ultimately, we’re going to be depending on Big Pharma. They’re the only ones who know how to go end-to-end from development to distribution.

But, more to the point, REALISTICALLY, the average joe on the street shouldn’t be expecting a needle in their arm until the first quarter of 2022, and version 1 of that vaccine is probably not going to be effective enough to create herd immunity.

Thus, I agree with steve shapiro below — — normalcy comes from reducing COVID19’s risk profile from “deadly to high risk groups” to “manageable for those in high risk groups”. Work on a vaccine is all good, but let’s not forget that what actually might be more *useful* is a supereffective variant of Nyquil.
