I don’t know your age, Art, but if you’re under the age of about 35 these days, you have no recollection of a politics which was anything other than viciously partisan, where the side not in power did nothing other than subvert anything the other wanted to do.
That basically describes our politics since Iraq went south in 2003. That’s 14 years…….so if a person is older than 34–35, they have no idea what “regular order” in our politics actually means. All they’ve seen is extreme partisanship, where politicians are pilloried and their careers threatened if they happen to have an independent thought.
Neither party is out to destroy America. But that’s what each side wants their acolytes to believe these days.
