Showing love to homosexuals, drunkards, gluttoners or anyone is not love to make them feel they will be fine continuing to do what they do…it is situational to some degree, but the truth is the truth.

I believe the reason one should show love to sinners is *not*, as you say, to “sugarcoat”, but to bring them to salvation. If one views the church as a hospital intended to treat and cure the disease of sin……then one cannot scream accusations or eject the sinner. It would defeat the purpose of the church.

When you sugarcoat the truth even 1% if becomes a lie. Pastor, churches, all people do this all the time. They are liars and to some small or large degree depending on the topic.

“All” is a little strong.

but everyone is too prideful today to believe we are as wicked and sinful as back then.

Well, the human being is a prideful creature. No getting around that. When we’re wrong, or we err, we instinctively deflect blame and rationalize why we really weren’t wrong, or we didn’t err.
