Now this has devolved into something silly. No, you didn’t pose the question. I am quite aware that I posed the question.
I answered every question you asked. The fact that you don’t like my answers is not my concern.
Throughout our exchange you vacillate between agreeing that diversity for diversity sake is not inherently good but yet saying that diversity for diversity sake is inherently good as a hedge against a mythical ethnic knowledge gap. (Clearly, though, your assumption seems limited to marketing and not other disciplines, like accounting or manufacturing).
Are you really so ignorant? Let’s make it clear:
- I believe that diversity is of value in disciplines where the diverse background of the individuals has obvious value.
- I don’t believe that diversity has value for the sake of diversity.
If that seems like vacillation to you, have your mother explain it to you, Or your grammar school child. It’s pretty fucking clear.
Now, since you’ve made spurious accusations against me, let me levy one against you:
You’re obviously an ideologue who the very mention of the word “diversity” sends you into a swoon straight out of a Jane Austen novel. I have illustrated to you, in copious detail, analogies and situations where diversity has business value; in each case, you’ve either rejected the response without any rational grounds for doing so, or thrown up as a gasping last defense some near-mythical individual that HAS the desired background without being raised WITH the background, as if the exception proved the rule.
And ironically, this entire exchange was precipitated by my responding argumentatively to a leftist individual who DOES believe that diversity is an worthy end goal, who was quoting a comment by a conservative who jumped the shark in his over-criticism about diversity, which you tacitly agreed with by calling it a misquote, meaning that you and I have been essentially in agreement all along. :-)
So, what? Is Seth Grossman your brother in law, or something?
I think at this point it is best to terminate this exchange.
I quite agree. And if you are looking to follow conservatives who blindly agree with hot button issues on the conservative plate, whether or not those issues are well-thought-out or not, feel free to not follow me. If a conservative says something which is full of shit, I’m going to call them out on it.
