but, we’ve never, in our lifetimes, had quite the level of across-the-board sheer incompetence and lack of character we have now in the White House.

I agree with you on the latter assessment. I think we just got done with sheer incompetence, the kind we hadn’t seen since Carter and Ford. Just because Obama had a more polished public persona doesn’t mean that he was competent. Trump, so far, is an improvement in my view, especially in the area of foreign policy, where he has been solidifying the relationships that we need to solidify (Saudi Arabia and Israel), putting the target where it needs to be placed (Iran), and finally told those freeloaders in Europe that they’re not going to put their hands in in the US Treasury anymore, not for their military defense nor for their climate proposals. We move forward FAIRLY with them or not at all.

But as you well know, sexual or personal frailty does not belong to any one political party. We’ve had more than plenty of examples of this in recent years. And then, his problem didn’t go down into history as sexual, but look at Nixon. He truly was a crook! Ironically, his administration did some good things, regardless; just as some Democratic administrations have done under flawed people. As a registered Democrat, I voted for Nixon twice! And, he is the only president for whom I voted and then had later regrets. Both of the “pussy grabbers” you mentioned, depending upon one’s “head bend” proved to have been good presidents, if not moral people.

I completely agree with all of that.

perhaps in the future we will have a robot making the important decisions? At this point, I have to believe that anything is possible.

You jest, but we are closer to this than we think. Two thoughts:

The first is that there is going to be a kangaroo court in the media and on the left to bring some sort of charge against Trump, where multiple courts have all agreed that you cannot bring an indictment against a sitting president. Why? Because that would make the President subject to an unelected judge. Expect there to be a push in the public to end this practice because Trump is just “so, so bad” and if successful, that is the end of representative government as we know it. Every president for the rest of time will deal with lawsuits while in office — — just like a third world country.

The second is this “deep state” matter, which seems to consist of (a) military and intel people demanding that the status quo foreign policy be maintained, (b) labor, demanding that the status quo in federal workforce be maintained, and (c ) monied economic interests, who demand that the status quo be maintained.

If any of those prevail…….then we really don’t have a democracy anymore. May as well queue up the robot.

However, what I’d really like to see is the end of political posturing and wars. And, I’d like some more recognition that everyone in this Country and timeframe are in this together, and that we all affect one another for better or worse. Whether we like it or not, we are “our brothers’ and sisters’ keepers.” I am not sure how we all could accomplish the end of politics, if not differing philosophies of life, but I think that if we could everyone would benefit. Partisanship has negatively taken over our lives and Country.

True, that.
