I agree with you completely, but as you can see from the comments, not everyone wants to give up the linguistic wars.

Equality, in a free society, is never totally achievable between identity groups. As both Roger Nash Baldwin and Angela Davis figured out in their respective youths, the extreme coercion of an authoritarian government would be necessary to enforce that level of equality. Plus, in any society, you cannot pass a law that changes the hearts and minds of people.

As a Muslim woman who wears religious garb, and who used to air travel weekly pre-COVID, I was quite used to being "randomly selected" for a patdown at rates 100x that of my colleagues. I entirely understand the reason why. I can choose, therefore, to become angry and agitated about it, OR I can just leave the house 15 minutes earlier for my flight and not concern myself with it, and live a nice life.

I choose the latter.
