I agree with the notion that there will always be motivated participants in medicine who do not obsess about $$$.

But……how many?

Lowered compensation always affects the quality of the worker a profession can attract. Doesn’t matter if it’s medicine or McDonalds.

And remember, we’re not just talking about doctors, here. We’re talking about nurses, med techs……the entire health care supply chain. If you take money out of that chain, it’s simply not going to have the same quality of people or produce the same quality of good.

Ever been in a hospital for more than a couple of days? Who do you really care about to keep you comfortable? Your doctor, or your nurse? And what if there were suddenly half the number of nurses?
