I actually had a semi-conversation with somebody who was all about this “white privilege” stuff a year or so back. It went something like this:

ME: So, what is your definition of “white privilege”?

SHE: Privileges that you get just because you’re white.

ME: (thinking) So, basically, its the same concept as being a disadvanged minority, you’re just looking at it from the opposite side.

SHE: (squirms a bit) Yes. But we should look at it this way, because you’re the one who is advantaged.

ME: (after pondering the illogic of that statement) Well, what can I do about it?

SHE: Nothing. You’re going to be privileged no matter what.

ME: (thinking that this is good news, because if I can’t do anything about it, I don’t have to concern myself with it). OK, thanks. :-)

By refusing to join their religion, you affirm their beliefs that you are an inferior person to a True Believer.

Fortunately, my self-image does not depend on their approval in the slightest. :-)
