Kavanaugh’s confirmation poses a huge threat to virtually every even slightly underprivileged class in the United States, from women to immigrants to the poor

Hyperbolic nonsense.

One of the more interesting things from the hearings (the real ones, not the Jerry Springer-like tribunal brought about when the Democrats fucked Dr. Ford over by leaking her letter and basically forcing her into a Roman Coliseum-type spectacle she wanted to avoid) was how little time the Democrats (all of whom, with one exception, had already telegraphed their “no” vote, begging the question as to why Grassley scheduled them at all, and may very well not in the future) spent on Kavanaugh’s extensive judicial record.

That extensive judicial record (totalling over 300 opinions, which is very rare these days, as Presidents of both parties have looked for candidates with skinny records, making them harder to criticize) was not what the Democrats were interested in; because if they focused on that record, they’d find…….a sane, balanced, right of center judge that, we later find out voted with Merrick Garland 93% of the time, a stat which remains unrefuted (and almost unreported) by other parties.

Odd, that. The Judge the left has canonized, and the Judge the left has demonized, in agreement. 93% of the time. And yet, we end up with this shitshow.

Here’s what’s not going to happen because Kavanaugh is now on the Court:

  1. Abortion is not going to be illegal.
  2. Our privacy rights are not going to be eroded.
  3. LBGT people are not going to be prohibited from marriage.

….and a host of other things that people seem apoplectic about are also not going to happen. Why? Because the center of the Court is not Kavanaugh; the center of the Court is now John Roberts, the savior of the ACA, the Judge who stated clearly in that decision that he has no patience for politicians who demand that the Court do what they cannot get done at the ballot box.

You know what that means? Balance. You see, back in the 1970’s, this mess all got started when the Left realized that they didn’t have to settle for some stupid compromise if they could get the Court to give them everything they want. Hence, there has never even been an attempt by the Democrats to put abortion rights, for example, into law. Why do the hard work of legislating if the Court is there for you?

Then, in the 90’s, the GOP realized that two can play at that game.

So, this is where we are. Pretending that the most important fucking thing in the world is who got over on who on this appointment, and nothing is more important than a SCOTUS seat. Know why that’s bad?

The Supreme Court is the most authoritarian branch of government. It is not required to be transparent, it’s decisions cannot be appealed, it consists of nine unelected officials which are appointed for life.

And here we all are, all worked up because of minute differences over who gets to be part of America’s Politburo.

Pity us, then, because we need it.
