Some shareholders are looking for short term gain and others are looking for long term gain.

Hm. If I want fast growth and I’m wiling to accept risk, I buy Amazon. If I want incremental growth and a stable divided, I buy Exxon. So, your shareholder population self selects to the expected future behavior of the security.

To me, that precludes more than few of the points you made above.
